The second cycle of the Graduate studies program lasts 6-8 semesters: for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy the requirement is the Dissertation which is written under the guidance of a three-faculty members committee. Each Division encourages the graduate students to attend the programs of European Universities at least once through the European programs Erasmus and Lingua, or through a fellowship program, recommends the students' participation in the research programs of the Division, and offers teaching associateships.
With these programs the Department of Philology in the undergraduate level guarantees a general philological trainning of the student and at the same time provides the possibility for an elementary specialization in Classical studies, Byzantine and Modern Greek Philology, Linguistics, Theater-Cinema studies and Musicology. In the graduate level the advancement of knowledge in these areas of specialization aims at the successful graduation of new scholars that combine general philological trainning and specialization.
